PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bullet stopping device having excellent durability and causing no problem of a ricochet or an evaporating phenomenon of lead. SOLUTION: The bullet stopping device 11 installed behind a target 17 comprises a visco-elastic body 13 formed in a predetermined thickness which a bullet can penetrate, and erected in sheet shape, and a steel plate 15 erected to face the visco-elastic body 13 through a void 14 of a predetermined width from the back face of the visco-elastic body 13. The visco-elastic body 13 can be erected in a sheet shape by solidifying vulcanized rubber, rubber in an unvulcanized state or rubber chips with an adhesive or the like. The visco-elastic body 13 is set to a thickness not to cause the rotary motion of a bullet 18 passing through the target 17, when penetrating. The bullet 18 is thereby rebounded by the steel plate 15 without causing big damage to the visco-elastic body 13 to remain in the void 14 and efficiently recovered. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
