Disclosed is the use of steroid derivative of formula (I) wherein, one of R1 and R2 represents a hydroxy group and the other represents a hydrogen atom or R1 and R2 together represent an oxo group. R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group and the dotted lines represent single or double carbon-carbon bonds) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof for the preparation of a medicament for the prevention of or the treatment of neuropathic pain.
