PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output a profile suited to a medium, on the basis of the physical property of the medium. SOLUTION: In a medium information DB 202, the physical properties of the medium and the profile used for image formation are related and stored. The color processor 203 inputs the physical properties of the medium and calculates the degree of similarity of the inputted physical properties and the stored physical properties. Then, according to the result of calculation, a profile corresponding to the medium whose physical properties is inputted is acquired from the medium information DB 202, and the acquired profile is outputted as the profile of the medium whose physical properties are inputted.
