PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular lighting unit for forming a prescribed light distribution pattern and showing a new good appearance in order to resolve at least some problems found in the usual car-life that, although this is an event mainly found in a beginner driver, own vehicle enters a service road or a road shoulder etc. due to lack of acknowledgment about own vehicle's width size, and in particular, at night, own vehicle abnormally approaches or contacts a counterpart vehicle due to insufficient acknowledgment of the width of the counterpart vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicular lighting unit forms a prescribed light distribution pattern through utilization of light from a light source through at least a projection lens or a reflection surface including an elliptical surface.
