User behavior may be monitored and changes in the audience composition may be monitored so that personalized content may be adjusted accordingly.

A method for automatically providing personalized content based on presence, the method comprising: identifying a group of users in a media consumption environment; determining if the identified group of users are known users; retrieving user information associated with the identified group of users when the identified group of users are known users; applying one or more certainty thresholds to control consumption of mixed-group content including a first threshold corresponding to a low certainty identification based on use of a single sensor to control consumption of a first type of content and a second threshold corresponding to a higher certainty identification based on use of multiple sensors to control consumption of a second type of content; and providing the mixed-group content to the identified group of users according to the one or more certainty thresholds and the retrieved user information associated with the identified group of users.
