<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which improves accuracy of ACS (Auto Color Select) determination without requiring a mechanism for detecting the size of an original, input of the size of the original by a user, and prescan of the original, and to provide method for controlling the image processing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus specifies the size of the original based on timing in which the tip and back-end of the original to be conveyed are detected when the original is read. The image processing apparatus further determines whether image data read from the original is a color image or a monochrome image for each size of a plurality of pieces of finite form paper, and selects a determination result determined using the size of finite form paper similar to the specified size of the original from among a plurality of determination results. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
