Disclosed is an inductive power transfer system for use in a surface-mounted electrical switch or power outlet system. A primary side is provided in a base unit of the electrical system to convert mains or supply power into an output power for use by a cover unit. The cover unit is provided with a secondary side of the inductive power transfer system to receive the output power from the base unit inductively.
