PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction engagement device which can reduce drag torque while suppressing an increase of the number of part items and a rise of a manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: A clutch device 1 comprises: a housing 2; a shaft 3 which is relatively rotatable with respect to the housing 2; a yoke 4 which is regulated in relative rotation with the housing 2; a friction plate 5 which is regulated in relative rotation with the shaft 3; and an electromagnet 6 for generating a magnetic force which makes the yoke 4 and the friction plate 5 friction-contact with each other. In the yoke 4, at least a part of an external peripheral side of a friction face 40 is formed as an inclined face 40a which is inclined to a radial direction of the shaft 3, and the friction plate 5 is elastically deformed so that an interval between the inclined face 40a of the yoke 4 and the friction face 50 of the friction plate 5 in an axial direction becomes large as progressing toward an external peripheral side of the inclined face 40a at non-operation at which the electromagnet 6 does not generate the magnetic force, and that the friction face 50 progresses along the friction face 40 of the yoke 4 at operation at which the electromagnet 6 generates the magnetic force.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
