An apparatus and a method for providing a multimedia ring back tone in a mobile communication network are provided to expose pictures, uploaded by a callee, to a transmitting terminal of a caller if the caller attempts call connection by using the transmitting terminal after the callee uploads the pictures by using a receiving terminal. Transmitting and receiving MSs(Mobile Stations)(10,20) perform call connection through a mobile network. A photoring multimedia server(30) is connected with the transmitting and receiving MSs through the mobile network, and converts a voice call bearer into an image transmission bearer when a call is attempted from the transmitting MS to the receiving MS. After that, the photoring multimedia server exposes the stored photoring multimedia as a multimedia ring back tone to the transmitting MS.
