<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having high resistance to damage and wear, having sufficient durability for maintaining excellent quality of finished image for a long time, and capable of preventing the occurrence of fluctuation of characteristics depending on use environment and forming a clear image in even high temperature and high humidity environment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This electrophotographic photoreceptor has an organic photosensitive layer containing at least an organic photoconductive compound and a binder resin and a protection layer on an electrical conductive supporting body in this order, and the protection layer is a film formed by reactive ion plating.
