<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce finishing time of a track groove by a simple structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sliding type constant velocity universal joint includes an outer ring formed with a plurality of linear track grooves extending in an axial direction on a cylindrical inner circumference face, an inner ring 20 formed with a plurality of linear track grooves 22 comprising pairs with the track grooves of the outer ring and extending in the axial direction on a spherical outer circumference face 24, a plurality of balls interposed between the track grooves of the outer ring and the track grooves 22 of the inner ring 20 to transmit torque, and a cage interposed between the cylindrical inner circumference face of the outer ring and the spherical outer circumference face 24 of the inner ring 20 to retain the balls. The track groove 22 of the inner ring 20 is formed with clearance parts 28 not contacting a machining jig during finishing of the track groove 22 in axial center areas M of both side rims in parallel with the axial direction.
