<p>A simple, safe electronic settlement system is provided. A user terminal (20), a pager, for example, at a shop communicates with a settlement server (30) over radio, and a register terminal (10) at the shop communicates with the settlement server (30) over a dedicated line or the like. The pager receives a transaction identification number set by the settlement server and displays it in bar codes for reading by the register terminal. The register terminal transmits the transaction identification number to the settlement server which performs a settlement processing only when the transaction identification number received from the register terminal agrees with a set transaction identification number. A person in charge of the register terminal authenticates the user via the settlement server. Since the user concludes the settlement without disclosing to the shop personal information such as a credit card number and password, security is enhanced.</p> |
