FERRATE STORAGE BATTERY

A storage battery (10) comprising a housing (12) formed of non-conductive side walls and spaced apart first and second conductive end plates (20 and 26). A uniformly mixed, packed matrix (13) of conductive Fe(VI) salt particles (18) and sulfonated conductive resin beads (14) are positioned within and substantially smaller in size than that of each of the conductive resin beads (14), the conductive resin beads carrying waters of hydration. A uniform layer of said Fe(VI) salt particles (18) are positioned in electrical contact with the first end plate (20) defining a positive (+) terminal of the battery. A uniform layer of non-conductive resin beads (24) are in physical contact against, and establishing a non-conductive barrier with, the second end plate (26) and defines a negative (-) terminal of the battery. The waters of hydration attached to the conductive resin beads acting as an electrolyte enabling current flow through the matrix.
