The device (1) is for the ventilating of rooms such as garages, warehouses or lofts which are ventilated by natural air draught, whereby the ventilation device has at least one functional element produced from a material which has a temperature controlled form changing effect. The functional element is located in the room to be ventilated and undertakes the functions of a sensor and an adjusting device and collects the required energy from the heat of the environment.
