PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable simulation of high reliability by efficiently and properly setting powder flow characteristics when simulation due to numerical calculation is performed with respect to a behavior such as the flow or the like of a powder. SOLUTION: An experiment for moving the actuator 3, which is partially inserted in the actually deposited layer of a powder 2, at a predetermined speed is performed to measure the resistance force acting on the actuator from the powder during movement and the surface shape of the powder layer during movement and after movement. On the other hand, the index of the powder flow characteristics is estimated by a technique for performing simulation and numerical operation is performed with respect to the same operation as the experiment. Then, a calculated value is compared with the measured value in the experiment and numerical operation is repeated while correcting the index of the powder flow characteristics to calculate an index whereby the experimental value and the measured value almost coincide with each other. This index is used to perform the simulation of various behaviors of the powder, a mechanism using the powder or the like. The disturbance state in the powder layer is measured in the experiment and the index may be determined so that this coincides with numerical calculation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
