PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens of high variable power and wide field angle, having a vibration prevention function, to provide an imaging apparatus, and to provide a vibration prevention method for the zoom lens and a variable power method for the zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens includes: in order from an object side, a first lens group G1 having positive refractive power; a second lens group G2 having negative refractive power; a third lens group G3 having positive refractive power; and a fourth lens group G4 having positive refractive power; wherein, in varying the power from a wide-angle end state W to a telephoto end state T, a spacing between the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2 increases, a spacing between the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 decreases, and a spacing between the third lens group G3 and the fourth lens group G4 varies. The third lens group G3 comprises, in order from the object side, a front group G31 having positive refractive power and a rear group G32 having negative refractive power, and when a camera-shake occurs, the image surface is corrected by moving only the rear group G32 in a direction nearly orthogonal to the optical axis, further, the zoom lens satisfies prescribed conditional expressions.
