PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interchangeable lens having a diaphragm ring that is made compact and whose rotating angle can be easily set. SOLUTION: The interchangeable lens includes: a photographing optical system to form an optical image of an object; a diaphragm means disposed at a prescribed position on the optical axis of the photographing optical system so as to change the diaphragm value of the photographing optical system; a driving means to drive the diaphragm means; the diaphragm operating member having a cylindrical shape coaxial to the optical axis of the photographing optical system, that is manually and rotationally operated so as to change the diaphragm value of the diaphragm device by driving the diaphragm device by the driving means; a rotating angle detecting means to output a detection value in accordance with the rotating angle of the operating member; a storage means to store the corresponding diaphragm value to the detection value detected by the rotating angle detecting means; and a diaphragm control means to read the diaphragm value out of the storage means and control the driving means based on the detection value detected with the rotating operation of the diaphragm operating member.
