PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, wherein poor charging due to toner deposition on an electrifier is prevented by removing the residual toner after transfer that passed through the gap between a cleaning device and the surface of a photoreceptor drum, before the toner reaches the charger. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic image forming apparatus A, equipped with the cleaning device 10 for scraping and removing the residual toner (t), after transfer left on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 5 on the upstream side of a corona charging system charger 6 for uniformly charging the surface of the photoreceptor drum 5, a second corona charging system charger 11 is arranged between the charger 6 and the cleaning device 10, and a voltage whose polarity is opposite to that of the residual toner (t), after the transfer on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 5 has been applied to the second electrifier 11, then, the residual toner (t) after transfer that passed through the cleaning device 10 is attracted to and stuck to the second charger 11.
