<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement pseudo multitasking and make operations of running application programs recognizable even on a CPU having a relatively low throughput. <P>SOLUTION: A personal digital assistant comprises a display part 17, a storage part 13, a communication part 11 and a control part 12. Every time a document displayed on the display part 17 is updated, the control part 12 stores the display history of the document in the storage part 13. If an event that requires a new start of a document display application occurs while the document display application is suspended, the document display application is started according to the event after source information about the document displayed by the suspended document display application is stored in the storage part 13.
