<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film having excellent transparency and optimal wavelength dispersion characteristics while holding sufficient heat resistance, to provide a method for producing the optical film and to provide a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device using the optical film. <P>SOLUTION: The optical film comprises 0.1-30 mass% of a compound having 1,000-30,000 weight-average molecular weight (Mw) and represented by the following general formula (1): general formula (1): -[CH<SB>2</SB>-C(-R<SB>1</SB>)(-CO<SB>2</SB>R<SB>2</SB>)]<SB>m</SB>-[CH<SB>2</SB>-C(-R<SB>3</SB>)(-CO<SB>2</SB>R<SB>4</SB>-OH)-]<SB>n</SB>(wherein, R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>represent each H or CH<SB>3</SB>; R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>4</SB>represent each CH<SB>2</SB>, C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>or C<SB>3</SB>H<SB>6</SB>; and m and n represent each a repeating unit) in a polymer resin having an alicyclic structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
