PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver unit, a broadcasting system, a reception method, and a program, capable of securely updating software.SOLUTION: A software acquisition part acquires software associated with operation of a receiver unit. A reception route determination part, when a failure is detected during reception of the software through broadcasting, determines a reception route of the software to be communication.
