1. A fingernail pick for a stringed instrument, comprising:
a body portion having a slot therein for attachment to a fingernail; an underside playing surface for activating a string on the stringed instrument during an underside stroke; and a topside playing surface for activating the string during a topside stroke; wherein the underside playing surface comprises an inwardly tapered edge with a proximal end, said proximal end shaped to deform a portion of a musician's fingertip in contact therewith.
