摘要 |
A wireless network interface device receives a packet, wherein the packet includes (i) a set of one or more flag bits, and (ii) a medium access control (MAC) header, and the MAC header contains at least (i) a first address field specifying a receiver address, and (ii) a second address field specifying a transmitter address. The wireless network interface device processes the packet to determine whether the packet is a multicast packet. When it is determined that the packet is a multicast packet, the wireless network interface device processes a third address field in the MAC header to determine a MAC multicast address for the packet. |

1. A method, comprising:
receiving, at a wireless network interface device, a packet, wherein
the packet includes (i) a set of one or more flag bits, and (ii) a medium access control (MAC) header, andthe MAC header contains at least (i) a first address field specifying a receiver address, and (ii) a second address field specifying a transmitter address; processing, at the wireless network interface device, the packet to determine whether the packet is a multicast packet; when the wireless network interface device determines that the packet is a multicast packet, processing, at the wireless network interface device, a third address field in the MAC header containing a MAC multicast address for the packet; when the wireless network interface device determines that the packet is not a multicast packet, determining, at the wireless network interface device, whether the set of one or more flag bits indicates that a station, being an original source or a final destination of the packet, has an association identifier assigned by an access point; if the wireless network interface device determines that the station has an association identifier assigned by the access point, determining, at the wireless network interface device, that the packet does not include the third address field; and if the wireless network interface device determines that the station does not have an association identifier assigned by the access point, determining, at the wireless network interface device, that the packet includes a MAC non-multicast address in the third address field, and processing, at the wireless network interface device, the MAC non-multicast address in the third address field. |
