PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enzymatic synthesis for S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) in the presence of both a system forming adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) from adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP) and a system for forming SAM from ATP and L-methionine without using expensive ATP as a substrate. SOLUTION: Polyphosphate kinase, adenylate kinase and methionine adenosyl transferase are used as enzymes. Polyphosphoric acid, L-methionine and AMP are added to a reaction system and reacted to synthesize SAM and the synthesized SAM is collected.
