A process for a cell culture wherein the cells are grown on a substrate, the improvement comprising the step of growing the cells on collagen substrate with the collagen having been extracted from an animal selected from the gro up consisting of a marine mamal and a bony fish. Preferred embodiments include those wherein the collage is either from salmon or a seal.
