PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device including a fixing roller and a pressure roller whose structures are further improved both in a decrease in a quantity of heat and an increase in strength. SOLUTION: A toner image is formed on an image carrier. A transfer means transfers the toner image on the image carrier onto a transfer medium. The fixing device defines a fixing nip section by pressing a rotary heat member and a rotary pressure member, both of which are cylindrical, against each other, and passes the transfer medium with the toner image on it through the fixing nip section, thereby fixing the toner image to the surface of the recording medium under heat and pressure. In the fixing device, the base material of at least either the rotary heat member or the rotary pressure member is formed in the shape of a hollow cylinder or an almost cylinder and is a rigid body made of ceramic having a plurality of holes.
