PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently separate/disperse the fibers of silicic fibrous aggregates, respectively, and then drying the silicic fibrous aggregates without depending on an evaporation drying process causing the coagulation of the silica fibers, thereby providing the fibrous silica having a thixotropy of≥6. SOLUTION: This method for producing the silicic fibrous aggregate obtained by decomposing asbestos or asbestos-containing serpentine with an acid is characterized by comprising a process for charging the crushed product of the asbestos or asbestos-containing serpentine in an acid solution and then stirring and decomposing the crushed product, a process for filtering the silica left as the residue, a process for washing the filtered silica, a process for adding water to the washed silica to prepare a slurry solution having a concentration of 10 to 30% and dispersing the fibrous silica in the slurry in water by an ultra sonic dispersion method, and a process for drying the silica-dispersed dispersion with a spray drier.
