<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system of compressing and/or reconstructing image information with low complexity. <P>SOLUTION: The data compression method may include selecting a mode from among a plurality of modes for compressing current data, according to predetermined criteria, and calculating a difference between the current data and reference data, according to the selected mode, and compressing the current data, or truncating a part of the current data and compressing the current data.
