PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle information terminal capable of easily executing a menu item provided in a deep player having menu items having a hierarchical structure, and operation method and menu retrieval method for information terminal.

SOLUTION: A "traffic information" button 22d is selected and pressed from buttons 22a-22d displayed in a noun area 22. A "wo" button 23b is selected and pressed from buttons 23a-23c displayed in a particle area 23. A "view" button 23d displayed in a postpositional word area 24 is finally pressed. When a sentence related to a function to be executed by a navigation device 1 is completed, candidate items 31a-31e for the completed sentence are displayed on a retrieval result display screen 30. Desired menu item functions can be operated by pressing the candidate items 31a-31e.
