ADAPTIVE BINARIZATION METHOD AND STORAGE MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recursive wavelet data compression technique for storing compressed data online in a process control network for use in transmission.

SOLUTION: A data compression system has a data receiver sequentially receiving data points, and a compression tree calculating device deciding approximation coefficients and detail coefficients of a multilayer wavelet compression tree from the received data points. The compression tree calculating device determines all of the coefficients of higher-level layers in the compression tree that can be determined after the data receiver receives the respective data points to execute on-line or real-time data compression. A memory stores the determined approximation coefficients of the compression tree. A comparator compares the determined detail coefficients or other error measurement values with one or more thresholds to determine the propriety of the halt of the configuration of the compression tree. A compression data generator selects a subset of the determined coefficients to create a set of compressed data corresponding to the received data points, when the comparator determines that the configuration of the compression tree be halted.
