<p>A method for downloading/providing contents, an electronic device and a contents server therefor are provided to supply a contents file encoded according to usage environment, thereby enabling a user device to use contents without additional image processing. A transceiver(130) communicates with a network through a wire or wirelessly. A controller(140) requests download of the contents to the transceiver based on environment information for downloading and using specific contents. The controller receives a data file of the contents encoded according to the environment information. A display displays option information about the environment information.
