A semiconductor light emitting device of high reliability can be obtained while inhibiting detachment between supporting substrate and semiconductor device layer. The semiconductor light emitting device comprises supporting substrate (1); first junction layer (2a) superimposed on the supporting substrate (1); second junction layer (2b) superimposed on the first junction layer (2a); third junction layer (2c) superimposed on the second junction layer (2b); and semiconductor device layer (3) superimposed on the third junction layer (2c). The melting point of the second junction layer (2b) is lower than those of the first junction layer (2a) and third junction layer (2c).
