1. A method of displaying images, comprising:
receiving, at a client device, streamed content from one of a plurality of content providers via a communications network, wherein the client device is coupled to and configured to communicate with each of the plurality of content providers; displaying visual images corresponding to the received streamed the received content on a display device; receiving a power off signal to power off the display device; stopping the streamed content in response to receiving the power off signal to power off the display device; creating a bookmark indicating a current location of play of the streamed content after receiving the power off signal; and displaying a home screen on the display device with a visual representation of an alternative content selection and a channel selection for a user defined period of time.
