A method to control an electronic parking brake (EPB) according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: sensing a driving speed and usage history of a vehicle, and deriving, when an EPB is operated, data regarding an average driving speed and brake usage history of the vehicle driven from a point in time at which the EPB is operated to a previous operation point in time; comparing the derived data regarding the average driving speed and brake usage history of the vehicle with preset reference data to estimate a temperature of a disk braked by the EPB; and comparing the estimated temperature with a preset threshold temperature to determine whether to re-operate the EPB. According to the present invention, temperatures of the brake and the disk are estimated when the vehicle is stopped, and when the EPB of the vehicle is operated, the estimated temperature information of the brake and the disk are compared with the preset reference data to determine whether to re-operate the EPB, whereby a reduction in a parking brake force due to cooling after the brake is overheated is compensated, thus preventing an unexpected movement of the parked vehicle. |
