A display device comprises: a display panel in which a plurality of pixel units are arranged; a backlight configured to provide light to the display panel; and a data processing circuit configured to receive image signals, provide the image signals to the pixel units, and control luminance of the light of the backlight. The data processing circuit sets a luminance level of the backlight to a value corresponding to a color gamut boundary of the image signals, which is visible to a user and adjacent to a saturation color region.
