Provided is a transmission control device wherein a controller determines whether one of a rotation sensor and a rotation sensor has failed. A hydraulic pressure control circuit and the controller carry out variable control of the line pressure and, if it is determined that a failure has occurred, fix the line pressure at or above a predetermined value. The hydraulic pressure control circuit and the controller variably control the gear ratio of a variator using a dual pressure-regulation format and, if it is determined that a failure has occurred, using a single pressure-regulation format.
