Provided is a sliding type constant velocity universal joint 1, 51 in which a fixed type constant velocity universal joint part 2, 52 is constituted by: an outer joint member 6, 56 in which a plurality of track grooves 11, 61 are formed in a spherical inner peripheral surface 10, 60; an inner joint member 7, 57 in which a plurality of track grooves 13, 63, which face the track grooves 11, 61 of the outer joint member 6, 56, are formed in a spherical outer peripheral surface 12, 62; and a retainer 9, 59 that retains torque transmission balls 8, 58. The fixed type constant velocity universal joint part 2, 52 is fitted into an outer cylindrical member 3 and a ball spline part 4 is formed between an inner peripheral surface 24 of the outer cylindrical member 3 and an outer peripheral surface 25, 75 of the outer joint member 6, 56 of the fixed type constant velocity universal joint part 2, 52. The sliding type constant velocity universal joint 1, 51 is characterized in that a ball 28 of the ball spline part 4 is held by a retainer 29 that is disposed between the inner peripheral surface 24 of the outer cylindrical member 3 and the outer peripheral surface 25, 75 of the outer joint member 6, 56 and in that the number of torque transmission balls 8, 58 of the fixed type constant velocity universal joint part 2, 52 is eight. |
