Method for loading media data (M) into a memory of a portable data carrier (10), e.g. a smart card, that is connected to an external operating unit, e.g. a PC (24). The method has the following steps: receipt of a load request by the data carrier from the operating unit, formation of an encrypted data transfer channel (50) between the data carrier and a secure, non-local server (30) in which the media data is stored and encrypted transfer of the media data over the secure channel and writing of the data to the data carrier memory. The invention also relates to a corresponding data carrier, computer program product and operating unit, especially a PC. |
