A circuit and a method for correcting an image and an apparatus for displaying an image are provided to perform adaptively color correction based on a predetermined equation in cooperation with the total amount of luminance correction for input image data. A circuit for correcting an image includes a luminance correcting unit(2) and a color correcting unit(3). The luminance correcting unit(2) corrects the luminance of input image data. The color correcting unit(3) adaptively corrects the colors of the input image data by using an equation, Cout[proportional to]Cin*[1+M*([delta]Y/L)], in which Cout, Cin, M, [delta]Y, L, and Ymax denote a chrominance signal after the color of the input image data is corrected, a chrominance signal before the color is corrected, the degree of adaptive color correction, the total amount of luminance correction performed by the luminance correcting unit, a fixed positive value satisfying L<(Ymax/2), and the maximum luminance of the input image data, respectively.
