The fuel injection valve has a valve body (1), in which a pressure chamber (3) is formed which is filled with fuel. The chamber is limited on an end by a valve seat (5) and an injection opening (7) is provided in the area of the valve seat, through which the fuel is injected out of chamber. A valve needle is arranged in chamber, which cooperates with valve seat for opening and closing the injection opening. The spring (24) is compressed only to a maximum amount by longitudinal movement of the valve needle and the longitudinal movement of the needle beyond the maximum amount is stopped.
