The method involves arranging a drive screw (21) axially perpendicular between housing halves (23a, 23b). A spindle nut (22) is arranged between bearing plates (24a, 24b), and the housing halves and the bearing plates are jointed together for producing a gear housing. The bearing plates and the housing halves are prestressed from each other during mounting of the bearing plates in a direction (X) and the housing halves in another direction (Y) different from the former direction to arrange the spindle nut and the drive screw in the gear housing.
