PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that contributes to improvement in user's usability when a USB (Universal Serial Bus) memory is detached from the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: For example, when a user completes processes associated with necessary jobs after connecting the USB memory 69 as an external device to the image forming apparatus through a USB host part 65, and then disconnects the USB memory 69. In such a case, it is determined whether storage contents of a related picture information storage part 75 and display picture information acquired by a picture information acquisition part 73 have a common part based upon both of the storage contents and the display picture information, and a display control part is operative to automatically carry out a panel clearing process based upon the comparison determination result without troubling the user at all.
