a diverter that is suitable for diverting an electrostatic discharge between a first terminal and a second terminal; and a compensation device, wherein a series circuit of a first resistor and a field effect transistor is connected between the first terminal and the second terminal, wherein a junction between the first resistor and the field effect transistor is connected to the gate terminal of the field effect transistor via an RC series circuit, wherein the RC series circuit comprises a second resistor and a capacitor and acts as a low-pass filter between the junction and the gate terminal, and wherein a time constant of the RC series circuit is dimensioned in such a way that the time constant is longer than a rise time of an expected pulse of an electrostatic discharge at the first terminal.
