A method for wireless communications by a base station, comprising: generating Downlink Control Information (DCI) for scheduling a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) to at least one user equipment (UE) according to a first DCI format, where the first DCI format schedules one PDSCH codeword; providing an indication to the UE of one or more parameters for a type of beamforming on which the scheduled PDSCH is based, wherein the indication comprises an indication of whether the PDSCH is based on open loop beamforming (OLBF) or closed loop beamforming (CLBF); and transmitting the DCI to the UE in a downlink control channel.
