PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a device for controlling a printer to efficiently obtain information on the format or the like of data supported by the printer.SOLUTION: A terminal device 1 comprises a communication interface 23 capable of communicating with printers 5, 6. Also, the terminal device 1 comprises a terminal control unit 10 that requests communication using a particular communication port from the printers 5, 6 and receives response states of the printers 5, 6 to the request via the communication interface 23.
