<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cemented carbide which has high thermal diffusivity, and has excellent wear resistance, and to provide a cutting tool provided with a base material made of the cemented carbide. <P>SOLUTION: The WC based cemented carbide is obtained in such a manner that a hard phase essentially consisting of WC particles is bonded by a bonding phase essentially consisting of Co, and is used for a cutting tool. The bonding phase is substantially composed of Co or Co and Ni, and the total content of the Co and Ni is 4.5 to 15 mass%. The average particle diameter of the WC particles in the cemented carbide is 0.4 to 4 μm, and, provided that the average particle diameter of the WC particles is defined as x(μm), the thermal diffusivity X(cm<SP>2</SP>/sec) of the alloy satisfies X>0.055x+0.238. The cemented carbide further can comprise one or more elements selected from Cr, Ta, Nb, Zr and Ti by 0.05 to 5 mass% in total. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
