<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical semiconductor element capable of obtaining output characteristics suitable for a diversified brightness environment from low illuminance to high illuminance. <P>SOLUTION: The optical semiconductor element 10 includes: a light reception part 11 for outputting a signal having an amount of current corresponding to the quantity of received light; a current amplification part 12 for amplifying a current signal from the light reception part 11 as an input current signal; an output voltage generation part 13 for outputting a voltage corresponding to the amount of a current from the current amplification part 12 as an output voltage from an output terminal Vo; a voltage monitoring part 14 for monitoring the output voltage of the output voltage generation part 13 and operates when the output voltage is not less than a prescribed voltage; and an output voltage adjustment part 15 for adjusting the output voltage generation part 13, such that a change in the output voltage to illuminance is reduced by operation of the voltage monitoring part 14.
