New bicyclooctanol esters are of formula (I) where R is H or an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbyl gp.opt. amino substd. The cpds. are used as perfumes and in perfume compsns. and in washing, cleaning, devolorising and cosmetic compsn. The esters derived from carboxylic acids of 5C can be used as heat transmission fluids, brake fluids, oil or lubricant additives. The cpds. are very stable to heat.
