Apparatus for making fabric for tyres comprises a body (40) mounting a pair of parallel rotatable spindles (42) formed with helical channels and a rotary housing (32) mounted on the body having a winding arm for winding cord about the spindles, the housing also carrying cord delivery means (38) comprising mounting (46) for a supply or supplies (48) of cord and means (50) defining a cord delivery route from the supply to the winding arm, the delivery means being radially spaced from the axis of rotation. The winding arm may have two cord dispensers. The spindles may be hollow for guiding bead wires. The apparatus may also include a rubberising calender, a press, a lining calender and a cutter.
