PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head for efficiently radiating Joule heat, generated from a recording head section. SOLUTION: A metal material layer 41 is formed between a lower core layer 43 and an upper shielding layer 36, and the metal material layer 41 is extended in the rear in the direction of height and also overlaps with a first metal layer 61, so that the Joule heat generated from the recording head section can be radiated efficiently to the outside of the magnetic head via the first metal layer 61. Additionally, a fluctuating magnetic field generated from a recording head section Hw is shielded by the metal material layer 41. Accordingly, variations in the magnetic domain structure of upper and lower shield layers 36, 33 can be reduced, and the reproduction output of the reproduction head can be stabilized.
